Introducing Earth Fest Patron - Tim Lee

As the second annual Earth Fest approaches on 16 October 2010, Wellington Sustainability Group are pleased to announce this year’s patron is locally born journalist, Tim Lee.

In a career spanning more than 20 years, Tim has travelled to almost every part of Australia, exploring and reporting on rural issues for ABC Television and Radio. He grew up at Bushy Park and began his career in Gippsland, where he is well–known for his work as a rural broadcaster for ABC radio and before that, as a television reporter for Southern Cross News.

These days Tim is based in Melbourne and since 2001 he has been a reporter for the award-winning rural and regional current affairs program “Landline”.

Reflecting the growing awareness of the need to conserve the planet’s finite resources, the theme of sustainability has become increasingly prominent in Tim’s work in recent years. From innovation in Australia’s remote deserts to irrigation efficiencies and stories on biological farming and Permaculture, his work has won many media prizes, including a Melbourne Press Club Quill Award, Rural Press Club of Victoria Awards and a United Nations’ Media Peace Award.

Tim Lee will be speaking at the Earth Fest official opening at Stratford Courthouse Theatre 7pm on Friday 15th October prior to a screening of “The Yes Men Fix the World”.

Tim will also be involved in the festival Market Day at Stratford Primary School on Saturday 16th October, which is a FREE community event.  For more details email: wellingtonsustainabilitygroup@gmail.com
